Does anyone have a Honda Silver Wing? A neighbor of mine (short little woman) bought a 650 Honda motorcycle (don't know the model) but it is too big for her. I suggested that she look into the Silver Wing and the Burgman because she wants to ride with her husband who also has a motorcycle and I know that both of these scooters are good on the highway--at least for short one-day trips of a couple of hundred miles. I'd just like some word-of mouth about the advantages and disadvantages of one or both. Thanks.

The 650 v twins in full dress were called silver wings, kind of like a small gold wing, now they named the scooter silver wing so you may need to be more specific.

The scooter silver wing is a fine ride and is fast. I was surprised at how fast and smooth it rides. Very low seat too.

The 650 silverwing was a slow dog in first gear but would get up to speed eventually. :)

I suspect he's talking about the scooter SilverWing since he's comparing it to a Burgman, and mentioned "both of these scooters."

I've had two of the older SilverWings, an '82 and an '81. Sold my '82 to my brother, who promptly crashed it. I mentioned MSF at the time of sale, but I don't think he was paying attention.

I still have the '81. I'm giving it to my future son-in-law so he'll have a ride.

I've ridden a Silverwing, albeit briefly. Snappy little machine. With ABS I imagine it would stop just as well. It is hard for a bike rider to get used to 2 brake levers rather than a brake and clutch but I imagine it would be just a ride or 2 and the old habits should break.

Like most super scooters it lacks a flat "floor" in front of the seat. The step through is quite low and should be OK for a tiny lady and certainly easier than throwing a leg over a regular bikes seat.

The CVT tranny also lags a little but once you're used to it it's OK.

I'd suggest that she see her local dealer and see if they will allow her to test ride one.

I had one up to 80 mph, runs like a snowmobile or atv. Some storage under the seat, lots of them running around these days. Low seat too. Not like the scooters I rode in the 60s. Easy to hold up too.
